Bloviator 2: Sur-La-Jaz
Part 2 of the "Bloviator" series of fun and congenial instrumental music from Paul's Montana studio, Sur-La-Jaz explores, you guessed it, his jazzier side. A sure sibling of part 1 (Dafunk), here you'll find some sweet jazz to spice up your listening pits whilst still keeping the groove alive and kicking.
Special thanks to Derek Bodkin for the vibraphone (and vibes) on "Cheesewhiz and Caviar" and as always, to Indigo for her groovalicious artwork.

Dedicated to my buddy Pickle!

Notes on Bloviator II:
1.Foggy 89- Doesn't this feel just a bit foggy to you? I enjoy the bridge that turns into an outro, it just feels right.
2. Tango in the Weeds- This flute-forward one leans on both Fender Rhodes piano and B3 organ for the first half before a much groovier wah-clavinet groove with EP ending. Nice.
3. Dismissive Ragtime- I was very inspired by Scott Joplin in my early piano days. Ragtime is underrated as a piano form, the feel, rhythm, intricate melodies. Hear my attempt.
4. Rump-fed Ronyon- A Shakespeare insult I believe. This is closer to straight-ahead jazz.
5. Puppycat- Hear it here on this page. This my buddy Pickle running around in the sun chasing pine cones, then finding his perfect mound of dirt to roll around and bask. Such joy!
6. HBD 82- My version of the Happy Birthday song to my father on his 82nd. He never got to hear it but I think he would have enjoyed the unexpected harmonies.
7. Spring Back 2- Way back behind the beat on this one. This is #2, but I don't think I ever released #1 as far as I know.
8. Time Again 1- I do really love my real Rhodes piano, there's just nothing like it for feel and sound. Hear it here on this page. Not sure where Time Again 2 is.
9. Cheezewhiz and Caviar- This features Derek Bodkin on vibes. It is most certainly a cheesy romp!
10. Twinkle On Alpha Black Sheep- The perfect ending. It is a spin on the three identical songs "Twinkle Little Star", "Alphabet Song", and "Bah Bah Black Sheep" with a jazz swing. Piano solo, here it on this page.
