There is no reason for the 'classic' tones and colors of orchestral music to remain firmly rooted in the past. The instruments are as alive and vibrant today as ever and we can hear many innovative and vital musical pieces created for orchestras of various sizes in the world of music for movies, television, and other visual media.
"My hope is to bring the wide, immersive sounds of orchestral instrumentation and revitalize them with original and inventive pieces," says Paul. "Visual medium or no, I hope that this music is engaging and engrossing to you, the listener."
About the music:
Ring of Fours is a study in timing and evolution. Written for a quartet, each instrument plays a progression through the same four chords, then repeats that progression. Each instrument is in a different time signature:
piano in 4/4
bass clarinet in 6/8
viola in 5/4
English horn in 7/8
The resulting harmonies and dissonance is the result of those four keys striking at different times, mixing both melodically and atonally, and ever progressing. Each instrument takes rests to leave space for the others to blend sonically, sometimes down to two instruments, sometimes all four simultaneously.

An ode to a morning in February, this piece travels through the different moods of morning. One can almost feel the sunrise, the morning routine. Morning, when it all seems possible!

The name 'minormorpho' comes from minormorphosis, a play on the word metamorphosis.
1. Moonday- A day with the Moon! Sol and Luna sharing the same sky for a few hours.
4. A Dulcet Edge- Soft, with an edge. Like life is, right?
5. Durin's March:Valor of Kin- There is great history in the dwarves; feel and hear the mystery and majesty.
7. Kadotus- Finnish for loss or eternal damnation. The name seems a bit deceptive when listening until you embrace the entire piece.
8. Theseus & Ariadne- The Minotaur and the woman who freed him from the labyrinth, a sad love story in Greek mythology.
9. Flute Concerto in E no 1- Don't be surprised by the including of a piccolo or two there!
10 Calloused Rejoinder- Ever regret something you said almost immediately after saying it? We've all done it, so treat it with grace.
11 Venmod- This word is my own invention, and describes this peaceful, slightly melancholy ending to the album.
Inspired by those excellent scary movies of the 70's, with no gore, just tension and suspense, this piece is filled with apprehension and wonder. And even some relief when you need it most.
Zandaqa means heretic or Muslim who does not stick to the strictest dogmas of that religion.
