Salad Days

SaladDays.jpg

An acoustic exploration of Music.

Fingers explore, strings vibrate, Music flows, magic sometimes happens. Salad Days is a short treasury of acoustic goodness from Paul's NW Montana studio. Acoustic 6-string, 12-string, and classical guitars, bouzouki, mandolin, Merlin dulcimer, electric bass guitar, and hand percussion blend with keyboard instruments like piano and organ to create an organic whole, a multifarious salad bowl of sounds and concepts. Like healthy greens for your body, Music is  delicious nourishment for your very soul!

So dig in to Salad Days, and enjoy.

Please don't forget to tip your waitstaff.

Thank you to Mika Niilonen's kids Sara & Gabi for your awesome dance that inspired the name! Also a big thank you to Derek Bodkin for your terrific percussion tracks on this song!

Notes on Salad Days:

1. Posimony- The opposite pole of antimony.  If you only listen to one song on Salad Days, listen to this one, I feel like it really came together.

2. Salad Days- An idiom meaning the 'heyday' of one's life. This song reflects that positive vibe. (Link to the song on this page.)

3. The September Feels- There's nothing quite like the perfect autumnal day in a Northern clime, is there?

4. Sara and Gabi's Dance- Mika's kids love of this song and their super fun dancing to it inspired the name. The percussion is from Derek Bodkin. This is a real penny whistle I found at an antique store in Libby, MT. (Link to the song on this page.)

5. Casaurina- The She Oak. Power, strength, beauty, patience, grace.

6. Fade to Gray- Things fade, but maybe not all the way. We're all a little tattered and torn by a certain age. And how beautiful is that?

7. Jacintha- Dutch for hyacinth, and a pretty name. There's something weird going on with the phase of the guitar in this song.

8. Dessert Desert- This is really old song that I revived for this album.

9. Canoeing the Muskegon- Growing up in Western Michigan, the Muskegon River was always a part of my life and still remains one of the prettiest rivers I've ever been lucky enough to traverse. (Link to the song on this page.)

10. Rivver- This river just needed another V to make it complete. This music flows ever down and around, like a river.
