Sentience, Inc
A sonic gambol of the neo-progressive music genre, Sentience Inc. is the next chapter in the ever-expanding universe of original music from independent artist Paul M. Grove. Featuring esteemed guest musicians Mika Niilonen (guitar) and Billy Hoffs (vocals), SI embraces the prog ethos and doesn't paint itself into a stylistic corner.
"Each song can have many moods, methods, meanings, and motives," says Paul. "A single piece may amble through vastly different sonics or styles and still be melded together in a way that makes sense musically."
So do yourself a favor and enter into the world of Sentience Inc with an open mind and let yourself flow and surge with a perpetually transforming palette. And be transformed yourself.
Thank you for supporting Independent Artists. At a time when AI is eroding our trust in what we see and hear, True Artists are ever more important... and ever more in jeopardy. Your support means everything.

Notes on the song titles on Sentience, Inc:
1, New Old Asshole- remind you of anyone? I love Mika's great guitar parts in this song, thanks Mika!
2. Kerfluffle- I like the mix of kerfuffle with a some fluff in there to make it a little softer. The song is also a mixture of timings together, and lots of moods.
3. Running Roughshod- An idiom that we don't use much any more but feels just right. The organ is running and the snare is roughshod.
4. Without Fail- I wrote this song years ago but it always needed a vocal lead. Then Billy came along and made it... right...
5. Hysop- Just a fun spelling of hyssop, a culinary mint plant.
6. With Vim & Vinegar- Another idiomatic mixture; Vim & Vigor mixed with Piss & Vinegar. Better than Piss & Vim.
7. Possession of Ordog- a demon or devil from Hungarian mythology. I like to use a lot of key changes so I challenged myself with this one, using only one pentatonic scale, keeping it interesting with timbre and rhythm and tone.
8. Santel- I don't know where this name comes from, just a word that popped into my head so I ran with it. I love the song, it's a nice, calm ear break, peaceful and full.
9. Last Day of Peace- I don't sing often, but here I just needed to. Strong emotions, feeling the end of a peaceful era on Earth.
10. Never Minded- I love the double meaning here.
11. Ogun- a god of iron; take a listen and see if you can hear it...
12. Sixty and Two- I was bummed that my friend Matt Hazel was unable to play drums on this song, to me it's the strongest part.
13. Soulless Winter- Montana winters can get a little long in the tooth.
14. Otium- Latin for 'chill, man!', or something like that.
